Federal Gov commits $25 million to trails

E-mail Print PDF

Team Canada logoThe Canadian government has committed $25 million to improving Canada's trail network.  Part of the government's economic stimulus package, the program is designed to promote "healthy living activities like cross-country skiing, running, walking, hiking and riding".

The program is being administered in partnership with the National Trails Coalition, a joint venture made up of the three non-profit organizations: the Canadian Trails Federation, the Canadian Council of Snowmobile Organizations and the Canadian Off-Highway Vehicle Distributors Council.

With this in mind, it would seem more prudent than ever for mushers to come together in identifying themselves as a user group with an interest in Canadian trail systems, as has been happening with B.C. mushers and the B.C. Trails Strategy.
